Hi,
I have been using an ID4 fist max for a month now and I have noticed a very strange and unpleasant behavior during braking.

While using the travel assist, when pressing the brake the first time, the brake is quite limited and, according to the display, no regenerative braking happen. In this case the brake is very little.
It seems as the first time the brake are touched only the travel assist is disabled, while pressing it again engage the breaking system properly.

This is a bit scary if an emergency brake is needed.

Has any of you noticed the same? I have had similar feeling also when braking just start after starting the car and the system not fully not running, but this has not been very consistent... while it happen several time with the travel assist.

thanks and have a good day

Why is it scary? Doesn't the mechanical brakes work?

Yes they work, but the braking effect it is not the same. Therefore you are in the situation that u expect certain amount of deceleration and you get much much less.. that is not super

Have you tried a hard braking while driving with travel assist? I did, with a demo car, and that worked just fine.
I can understand the logic with the behaviour that you describe, where a rather soft touch on the brake pedal disengages the travel assist without scaring off the car behind you.
