Brand new leaf wont charge or drive

Last week I leased a brand new leaf and yesterday charging suddenly stopped and I now the car refused to engage to drive or reverse. It seems the car wont start as it keeps on saying press the brake pedal and hit on start which I did many times with no luck. I have disconnected/reconnected the 12V battery with no luck.

Any ideas what can be wrong?

Sounds like it is not in the start mode. The start button is tristate. Are you sure you press and hold the foot brake when pushing the start button?
What is the battery charge level?

It is a brand new car with 42% charge and 12v is fully charged. I have already disconnected the 12v battery for around 5min but same problem.

Yes I have done that but would like to know what happened.

Inverter is not working so it needs to be changed and some seals in the brake.

On a brand new car ?  Is it an import vehicle ? ( could have been damaged after long storage or freight.... )
