Hi,

My 'power limit' comes on when driving faster then 30-40kmh.
The car keeps on driving but lacks power, it is like your driving in eco-mode.
I cant see any errors showing up in the CAN traffic so i believe the 'power limit'  is directly triggered from the PCU. From the Zebramonitor software i dont see any battery errors.

What could be causing this in the PCU ?

Is it a Zebra car? Is it triggered by speed ore load?

Yes it is a Zebra.
My first impression is that it is triggered by load.

When i gently push the throttle the power limit lamp stays longer off then when i push the throttle harder/faster.

Also when smashing the throttle the car/engine starts pulsating/shocking when speeding up.
When pushing the throttle slowly it speeds up smoothly.

I also experience this pulsing when driving full throttle at low SOC. Perhaps some cells are dead? But that should throw a error message.

I would say the battery has to high internal resistance giving the motorcontroller a hard time trying to provide steady output power from a very variable input voltage. On Zebra  the internal resistance is high even in original state, and some extra resistance is maybe all that is needed to enter low voltage ( Power limit ) mode

These is no error coming from the BMI/Battery so if the power limit comes on it is purely triggered by the PCU i assume.

BTW, my airbag lamp is constantly on, dont think that has anything to do with the BMI/battery or the PCU but with something else. There was also a repair invoice from Elbilmek with the car from july 2016 where the airbag lamp was mentioned as corrected fault but wonder if that was repaired.
I believe Baudemo had an airbag-reset box which he later integrated in the OVMS software. So i assume it can be reset by sending a specific CAN message ?

The limits come from the BMI, but it is up to the PCU to compare actual with the limits, and to set the power limit.

Have a look at the messages from RAC, ID H401 Could be that this module has been discarded at some point, and then the link between airbag-controler and instrument cluster is missing

Okay i have to look into these BMI limits more closely then to see whats going on.

There are no 0x401 in my car so i assume either the RAC is taken out or defective.
I can mimic these messages from my module so my airbag lamp goes off.

Regarding the pulsing - you need to look at voltage/current when you are driving. I don't think the PCU can turn power limit... but maybe.
I have seen the BMI disconnect the battery under driving condition so there are many different ways for this to happen.

Regarding the airbag lamp - the lamp is driven by the RAC unit on a GEN1 cars and directly by the PCU on GEN2 and later.
I have made a box that is replicating the function of the RAC for the GEN1 and controlling the airbaglamp. The same functionality is also available in the OVMS.
You can not do this on the CAN bus - you need direct control.
