Hei

Hello.

i don´t know if I got this right from the norwegian post, but I think I am having a similar problem.
my think starts the fans seldom in 10 A charging mode, but this weekend we did a 550km trip and charged fast a lot. after some charging time it starts the blower quite often and always in fast mode, then it stops after 30 seconds or so. this was very annoying while camping.
today i looked up the blower resistor, because i hadn´t  a slow mode as other think drivers. the resistor is blown. do you have an idea what ford type it is? the marking says: motorcraft 550.1060 A and 1008 D. (the other text is the material)

Refer to this post to see how i solved it. Røhne selmer does not provide this resistor

Hej.

I found the resistor. It comes from a standard US Ford model from the time around the construction of the A306. It s the radiator resistor of a Ford Taurus 2002. Part No. 1F1H-9A819-AB.
Its quite rare. I found it in the USA, but they will not ship to germany :-(
If anybody can get one, pm me.

Hello.

After I was beeing able to buy the resistor from the US dealer, I have it in use for a while. I have to admit that it is not the original Think resistor seems to have a different Ohm value. The fan will run nearly as fast as without it. What we did now as a fix was to connect the two fans in series instead of parallel. They run with half speed which is a quick fix for now. I will install a diy resistor (as haakon88) in addition to slow them down a bit.

Nice to see that my DIY could come in handy.
After one year of use the resistor is now broken. I think it's because of corrosion on the metal where I placed my resistor, which in turn leads to more heat in the resistor. So I think your solution with the alu heatsink is better. I would also add a casing around it to reduse corrosion and mud.

Luckily I had an extra piece of resistor and I replaced it in a few minutes. When this resistor dies out, I think I'm gonna purchase a resistor capable of 200W instead of 100W(like the green one). I believe that would last forever.

hello.
i never used the resistor assembly as its to see above.
New and much better solution is to put the radiator fans in series which is much quieter than before. in Addition i used a pwm to regulate the flow.
watch this.....
