Hello guys, we're actually in Norway and brought something with us....
From today on you can order the new Think-O-meter OBD plug and play Display via Elbilhjelpen. Its called the new RoboMeter 306 there.

Kind regards evdriver

Hello

We here in Germany have developed another kind of Data Display for the New Think.
Its based on the BMS from GK-Anlagentechnik (in Norway better known as the Robometer).
We adapted Can readout to the BMS Headunit and wrote some lines of code. ;-)

The Think CAN-Bus Display is still in development, but it exists Version 1.0.
We actually can display Voltage, Current, SOC and Zebra Temperature.

I now have a very practical question:
How did you (the Nikometer users) solve that the OBD plug is under the Fuse department closure, and with OBD plugged in, its no more possible to close the compartment. See pic. Before I make a new closing with an opening for the plug in it, I wanted to ask...
More pragmatic thinkers maybe leave it open all the time but I'd like a more elegant solution.

Tidlige elbiler: Think / Sv: Think charging socket

Hi Werner.

The new Thinks (European Model A306) normal charging inlet and plug is a lewden.

Lewden is a british plug company that produces even small series of special items for oems.

I contacted them to get a supplier for the Think plugs and they answered that they wouldn't sell to private buyers and I should contact my Think dealer. As the Think dealerships don't exist anymore I guess its not easy to get hold of such a thing.

My first idea if my charging inlet will break, was to use an italian style "three-phase-plug". They have 4 contacts, so one could be used for the pilot contact.
http://www.eth-shop.de/cee-stecker-4-polig.html?XTCsid=4fc0c539e562574e7ed98205f9c0be5f

Its cheap, rugged and nobody can accidently plug in the normal three-phase 16 plug.

But my actual choice would be to rebuild to Type 1

Hello.

As we are working deeper into Think A306 tech, we have had some defective cars in our shop the last weeks (e.g.defective charger, SOC reset, Iso fault in the heater, EPO circuit fault...)

Today we had a red Think from 2010/11 Gen2 with EPO circuit fault which had a very strange VIN Number. It doesn't match to the know scheme (YYCFT....)

VIN Number was: WEVAD3M...

See pictures. The manufacturer is a german GmbH. The owner thinks they build a few cars after production stopped from spare parts.

Interesting, isn't it ?

P.S: we now can do SOC resets, Zebra Monitor, Think Tech Center and "the holy grail" CHAS

Hello.
Thanks for your help, we will order the connector and heat it externally, found all the pins for ac and 12V.

We actually have a second zebra Think which doesn't charge. The battery was heated up but the voltage stayed at 270V. The contactors didn't close due to an error cause by the crash sensor. CAN bus signals showed "general error". We took out the zebra, took off the BMI and charged it in guerilla style a few minutes externally with a Zivan NG9 charger in the right voltage. As the voltage came up to 360V we stoppedand put everything back in. The error stayed. Later we connected Zebra Monitor with our peaktech interface and could figure out which fault excactly we have: short circuit. To reset we need Zebra Monitor access level 1.
Any clues how to get the password ?

Hello from Germany.

On my very early Zebra Think 2008 a week ago the charger stopped working.
PCU is GEN0 modified to 10A and 16 A charge.
Before we had Problems with a dead 12V Battery which only had 8.5 Volts. So the Think would not start a charge or drive (eg start charging the 12V with the DC). After a some time it started a charge. But as the 12V Batt was badly overheating due to its dead cells we stopped the charge after 1 hour. The next day with new 12V Battery the charger always fired the line fuse in the House.
We drove home as driving was still possible and no fault lights we on. The Zebra heater still works. We also tried to charge with a different cablebox, with no result.

We took the PCU apart and found an exploded resistor (see pic.4) near to an AC shunt ?? and some smaller SMD resistors blown on the circuit.

The GEN0 Board looks quite arkward with its on board computer Power supply (see pic.2). The before white plugs of the AC cables on the board were all brown or black due to their bad connection but that has nothing to do with the fault (It just shows a bad layout of the PCU) (see pic.3)

Actually we are trying to repair the board but we re not sure if we found the reason for the fault.
If all goes wrong: where wo get a replacement board for the GEN0 PCU or is it possible to upgrade to GEN1?

Can we suplly the Zebra heater external? We cooled down the battery with 34% but for testing the repair we will heat it up again. And if our repair needs to be modified we would like to keep the Zebra warm. Is this possible by external power supply of the heater ?

hello.
i never used the resistor assembly as its to see above.
New and much better solution is to put the radiator fans in series which is much quieter than before. in Addition i used a pwm to regulate the flow.
watch this.....

Hei,

Dens uten bruk lenger.

Hello,

today I got to work on my Think for another purpose. After that I took out the relay box and had a look at the RAC. Located it.

Can I pull the 24 Pin Connector without getting any error messages e.g. airbag lamp ?

Is it possible to remove/disassemble the RAC or should I leave it in? Its of no use any more.

Hello Guys.

My Think now is more than 23 kgs lighter than before.  ;) (guess what that means)
The big copper coil is out and the connections renewed.
No more issues, all systems nominal. ;D

Hello Thinkers

On our weekend trip to a electric car meeting we drove a lot and used quick charge (the 3.4 KW setting). After some hours of charging I recognized a plastic smell and the trunkfloor got a bit warm.
I thought it was because of the faster charge and normal ventilation heat from the zebra blower.

When I opened the trunk floor today I found a molten box and some cables seem to have gotten very hot see pics.

Anybody experienced this before ?
What is the big torodial transformer for ?

Thanks evdriver
